Πρωτότυπος τίτλος: The Phantom of the Opera
Ένας τρομερά παραμορφωμένος συνθέτης γνωστός ως "The Phantom" στοιχειώνει την όπερα του Παρισιού, όπου κρυφά καλλωπίζει την Christine Daae για να γίνει ντίβα όπερας. Παρασύροντάς την στην απομακρυσμένη υπόγεια φωλιά του, το Phantom δηλώνει την αγάπη του. Αλλά η Κριστίν λατρεύει τον Ραούλ ντε Τσάγκιν και σκοπεύει να ζήσει μαζί του. Όταν το The Phantom το μάθει αυτό, απαγάγει την Christine.
