Die Nacht vor dem 16. Juni 1816: Inspiriert von den Blitzen des draußen tobenden Unwetters, berauscht von Champagner und Opiaten, halten Lord Byron und seine Gäste eine Seance ab. Lord Byron verlangt, daß alle ihren geheimsten Ängsten eine Gestalt geben - er will einen Dämon heraufbeschwören. Es wird eine Nacht des Horrors, ein Kampf gegen die Geister, die sie gerufen haben. Von Träumen, Wahnvorstellungen, destruktiven Gefühlen und erotischen Anziehungskräften getrieben, durchwandern die Verschworenen die immer unheimlicher erscheinende Villa. Die Nacht der Ekstase erreicht ihren Höhepunkt. Eine alptraumhafte Vision offenbart ihnen, daß sie an ihren eigenen Todesphantasien sterben werden.
