Distribuito dalla General Film Company, il film - un cortometraggio di 100 metri - uscì nelle sale cinematografiche degli Stati Uniti il 15 dicembre 1915. Nelle proiezioni, veniva programmato con il sistema dello split reel, accorpato in un'unica bobina con due altri cortometraggi prodotti dalla Edison, il documentario History of the Big Tree e il cartoon Black's Mysterious Box.

Trama
In 1915, Raoul Barre hired young animators GREGORY LA CAVA (who was later to become a distinguished Hollywood director) and FRANK MOSER to produce a series of cartoons titled "Animated Grouch Chasers." Each one combined live action and animated sequences. The Hicks In Nightmareland features several of the latter. Best is Cartoons On The Beach, in which Mr. Hicks fantasizes that hes floating high in the sky. He takes a bite out of a cloud and sprouts wings.
